Ovie Ejaria played in La Liga last season and is now attempting to find his next club through LinkedIn.

The former Liverpool midfielder published a post announcing that he is available as a free agent and inviting clubs, agents and recruitment staff to contact him directly.

“I’m currently a free agent and looking for the right opportunity,” Ejaria wrote.

The 28-year-old described himself as a London-based central midfielder capable of playing as a number six, eight or 10. He also included left winger as a secondary position and ended the post by confirming that “all enquiries” were welcome.

Ejaria provided his age, location, employment history, positional flexibility and preferred method of contact. In most professions, this would represent a perfectly conventional use of LinkedIn.

Professional football has traditionally preferred to conduct the same process through agents, scouts, recruitment departments and several weeks of reports claiming that talks are progressing.

Ejaria developed in Liverpool’s academy and made his senior debut under Jürgen Klopp in 2016. He later represented Sunderland, Rangers and Reading before joining newly promoted Real Oviedo in August 2025.

He made eight La Liga appearances during the Spanish club’s relegation season before becoming a free agent during the summer.

That experience is now condensed into a short professional profile designed to reach anyone who may require a midfielder before the season progresses much further.

There is nothing especially unusual about an unemployed person using LinkedIn to find work. The unusual part is that this particular applicant was playing in one of Europe’s leading divisions a few months ago.

Ejaria’s next transfer may therefore begin without a training-ground visit, an airport photograph or a journalist tracking a private jet.
