Anthony Gordon Says Pedri Sees Runs Nobody Noticed Before

Gordon praised Pedri’s vision after saying many of his runs went unnoticed before his move to Barcelona.

Anthony Gordon has praised Pedri’s ability to spot his movement, saying runs that went unnoticed earlier in his career are now being recognised by his Barcelona teammate.

Speaking to the club’s official magazine, the England winger described the difference playing alongside Pedri has made. He said he had spent much of his career making runs nobody saw, before singling out the midfielder as someone who “sees absolutely everything”.

In a separate remark about adapting to Barcelona, Gordon said playing alongside some of the world’s best footballers had helped him settle with the ball.

The winger, who joined from Newcastle United, also pointed to similarities between the two clubs’ approaches. He explained that Newcastle’s pressing and attacking style had made the adjustment to Barcelona’s football easier.

His praise for his new teammates extended beyond their ability. Gordon said he had been struck by the squad’s humility despite the players’ quality and their ambition to win trophies.

Eric Garcia and Dani Olmo have helped him settle, particularly with the language barrier. Gordon said Garcia’s English had been useful when conversations in Spanish became difficult to follow.

He also admitted the supporters’ warm reception had exceeded his expectations, given the players they had watched represent Barcelona before him.

Gordon’s ambitions stretch beyond fitting in. Looking back at the Barcelona side featuring Xavi and Andres Iniesta, he said he wanted the current team to be remembered for years to come.
