Barcelona forced to wear last season’s kit after all three current options ruled out for PSG clash
Barcelona will bring back their orange shirt after visibility concerns ruled out this season's three kits for the Paris trip.
Barcelona are set to wear last season’s orange kit against Paris Saint-Germain after all three of their current strips were judged unsuitable for the Champions League meeting.
The unusual switch is for Tuesday’s game at the Parc des Princes, with television visibility behind the decision rather than a shortage of shirts.
Why Barcelona cannot wear any of their current kits
Mundo Deportivo and Cadena SER report that UEFA and television production staff considered Barcelona’s three options too similar to PSG’s dark blue home strip.
That rules out their traditional blue-and-red home shirt, the black-and-purple away kit and the blue third strip.
The concern extends beyond whether the shirts look different when placed beside each other. The reported decision centres on ensuring the teams can be distinguished clearly in television pictures during the match.
Barcelona have therefore had to look beyond their current collection, despite having two alternative strips available alongside their home colours.
Last season’s orange shirt returns
The solution is the orange third kit from the 2025/26 campaign, which offers a much brighter alternative to the Paris club’s home colours.
Although it belongs to the previous season, Barcelona have already worn it during this campaign’s preparations.
They used the orange strip for their pre-season friendly against Basel at St Jakob-Park. It will now return for a Champions League fixture after none of this season’s three shirts was considered suitable.
