Erling Haaland has admitted missing his long hair just 13 days after removing it, bringing an unexpectedly early sense of nostalgia to his fresh start.

The Manchester City striker discussed his dramatically shorter appearance after scoring the winning goal in Saturday’s 1-0 Premier League victory over Coventry City.

Haaland said the buzz cut was considerably easier to manage and insisted that he liked his new appearance. There was, however, one minor complication.

“Of course, I miss my long hair, but it was time for a change,” he told ESPN Brazil.

He added that he expected the hair to grow back and hoped it would eventually become long again.

Haaland revealed his new appearance on 23 August, replacing the tied-back blond hair which had become one of his most recognisable features. He explained at the time that he wanted a “fresh start” following the World Cup and had chosen a military-style buzz cut.

The decision was made despite Zlatan Ibrahimović previously warning Haaland that his strength was contained in his hair.

Fortunately, the striker’s decisive header against Coventry suggested the removal had not caused any immediate reduction in power.

Haaland therefore remains pleased with the haircut while simultaneously waiting for it to reverse itself naturally.

He wanted a fresh start for the new season. Less than two weeks later, he is already looking forward to the restoration.
