Andre Onana Turns Himself Into a Human Tea-Light Holder

Andre Onana has shared footage of himself undergoing an intensive fire-cupping session involving dozens of glasses, several flames and considerably more trust than most people would place in another person holding a lighter near their back.

The Trabzonspor goalkeeper posted the treatment on his Instagram Story, showing heated glass cups being applied across his back, shoulders and legs.

Fire cupping uses heat to create suction inside each cup before it is placed on the skin. The treatment is sometimes used by athletes as part of their recovery routines, although Onana’s version appeared less like routine physiotherapy and more like preparations for an unusually elaborate birthday cake.

The Cameroon international remained remarkably calm while the practitioner moved around him with a flame and continued adding cups until very little uncovered skin remained.

Onana is spending the season on loan at Trabzonspor from Manchester United and has enjoyed a promising start to life in Turkey.

Exactly how much of that can be attributed to briefly becoming a human tea-light holder remains unclear.

What is certain is that most footballers post photographs from the gym when they want supporters to know they are working on their recovery.

Onana posted footage that required an immediate explanation of why he was not being slowly cooked.
