Alejandro Garnacho has removed himself from Instagram, providing football supporters with the traditional indication that something may or may not be happening.

The Aston Villa winger’s account disappeared on Sunday, with his profile no longer accessible on the platform.

There is currently no explanation from Garnacho.

It is also unclear whether he has permanently deleted the account or temporarily deactivated it, which has naturally provided plenty of room for everyone else to investigate.

The timing has attracted attention following another eventful summer for the Argentina international.

Garnacho joined Aston Villa from Chelsea on an initial season-long loan in July, with the agreement including a conditional obligation which could make the transfer permanent.

The move came just one year after Chelsea signed him from Manchester United for £40million.

He had recently appeared considerably happier with his latest change of club, posting after a pre-season appearance for Villa that he was enjoying playing football again.

His Instagram account has now disappeared entirely.

Footballers deleting posts, removing clubs from biographies and changing profile pictures have become established parts of the modern transfer window, with each alteration routinely examined for possible indications of what happens next.

Deleting the entire account has removed several of those investigative options.

For now, there is no evidence that Garnacho’s disappearance from Instagram has anything to do with his football future.

Nobody knows why he has done it.
