Aedan Scipio Has Hair Pulled Twice and Gets Two Opponents Sent Off
Clip: X
Aedan Scipio spent little more than 20 minutes on the pitch against Antigua and Barbuda and persuaded two opponents to make exactly the same unusual mistake.
The Anguilla midfielder entered Saturday’s CONCACAF Nations League match in the 69th minute, by which point his side were already losing 5-0.
Three minutes later, Keon Greene grabbed Scipio’s exceptionally long dreadlocks while attempting to stop him and received a straight red card.
Having watched that happen, Shalon Knight was presented with a similar situation during stoppage time and reached precisely the same conclusion.
Knight pulled Scipio back by his hair and became the second Antigua and Barbuda player to be dismissed.
Scipio’s dreadlocks extend beyond his knees and are normally secured around his waist while he plays. They also provided Anguilla with its most effective attacking weapon of the evening.
Antigua and Barbuda had scored five times before half-time but finished the match with only nine players after twice discovering that hair-pulling remains violent conduct regardless of its availability.
Anguilla still lost 5-0, meaning Scipio’s introduction changed the number of players on the pitch considerably more than it changed the score.
He recorded no goal or assist but produced two red cards simply by arriving with his usual hairstyle and waiting for opponents to make poor decisions.
