Ousmane Dembele jokes about taking holidays ‘until March’ after scoring against Man City

The PSG forward laughed about another extended break after returning to score in the Champions League win at City.

Ousmane Dembele joked about taking another holiday until March after returning from a break to score in PSG’s 4-2 Champions League victory at Manchester City.

The forward was in a playful mood during his post-match interview with Canal+, turning questions about criticism and his recent time off into a running joke with the studio panel.

Dembele jokes about another extended holiday

Asked about negative comments following the international break, Dembele said he had not read them because he had gone on holiday afterwards.

“I might ask for more holidays,” he added, smiling.

He then explained how much he enjoyed playing on Tuesdays and Wednesdays, particularly when returning from a break.

When the conversation turned to whether another holiday could follow, Dembele pushed the joke further.

“It’s possible. Until March, I think. We’ll see. It’s the coach who decides.”

The exchange also brought a relaxed response to his critics: Dembele said he had been criticised for 10 years and did not expect that to change.

PSG’s rest pays off against Manchester City

Luis Enrique had rested Dembele for PSG’s league match against Le Mans the previous weekend, giving the forward a break before the trip to England.

Back in the starting side at the Etihad, he headed in PSG’s second goal after combining with Desire Doue.

Doue had opened the scoring, with Vitinha adding a third before half-time. Erling Haaland scored twice after the break, but Maghnes Akliouche also found the net as PSG secured a 4-2 win.

Dembele’s return gave him a goal to accompany his holiday jokes, having sat out PSG’s 3-1 victory over Le Mans four days earlier.
