Man City fans meet Liverpool supporters outside Anfield after guilty verdict

Clip: Facebook

Manchester City supporters came face to face with Liverpool fans outside Anfield before their club’s first match since being found guilty of breaching Premier League financial rules.

Footage shared by Away Day Lads shows the visiting group passing through a route lined with police and stewards, with supporters gathered on either side.

One City supporter holds a sky-blue flag towards the crowd as the group moves past. Others turn towards the surrounding fans, while people nearby raise phones to record the scene.

City return to action with appeal ongoing

The encounter came before Sunday’s Premier League fixture, with Liverpool supporters also greeting City’s players with boos as they emerged for their warm-up.

An independent commission found City guilty of serious financial rule breaches covering nine seasons, from 2009-10 to 2017-18. The club deny wrongdoing and have lodged an appeal.

City’s eventual punishment remains undecided, with the appeal process still to run.
