Harry Maguire waves Bentancur goodbye before 10-man Spurs rescue a draw

Harry Maguire smiled and waved Rodrigo Bentancur off the pitch after the Tottenham midfielder was sent off against Manchester United.

Sky Sports captured the United defender saying “bye bye” as Bentancur departed. The exchange came with United leading at Old Trafford, but Maguire’s farewell was followed by a late Tottenham equaliser.

Tottenham hit back after Bentancur’s red card

Bryan Mbeumo had put United ahead in the 73rd minute, combining with Matheus Cunha before finishing past Antonin Kinsky. Five minutes later, Bentancur received a straight red card for a headbutt on Luke Shaw.

The dismissal left Tottenham chasing an equaliser with 10 men. United had both the lead and the numerical advantage, while Maguire’s reaction supplied the moment that caught the cameras.

But Tottenham still found a way back. In the second minute of stoppage time, Dominic Solanke met Sandro Tonali’s cross with a glancing header to make it 1-1. His finish denied United victory and secured a point for the visitors despite Bentancur’s dismissal.
