Man City Fans Decide What Haaland and Dias Were Discussing

Manchester City supporters have translated an inaudible conversation between Erling Haaland and Ruben Dias into a possible discussion about leaving the club.

The teammates spoke at length after Portugal’s 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway in Oslo on Sunday. Dias covered his mouth, while Haaland shook his head and briefly made an air-quotes gesture.

Nobody outside the conversation could hear it. This did not prevent the footage from being analysed as though the pair had issued a joint statement.

The exchange arrived days after reports claimed City had been found guilty of almost all the Premier League charges against them. With the official verdict still unpublished, supporters supplied the missing audio themselves.

One wrote: “We are cooked.” Another concluded: “They’re planning their exits.”

There is no evidence that Haaland and Dias discussed the case, their futures or Manchester City at all. They may have been talking about Sunday’s match, in which Haaland scored for Norway before Dias helped Portugal secure victory.

Dias covered his mouth to prevent anyone reading his lips. The measure worked, leaving everyone free to decide exactly what he had said.
