Tottenham Pay £85m for Savinho After Two Premier League Goals
Tottenham have completed the signing of Savinho from Manchester City in a deal worth up to £85 million, attaching one of the summer’s largest transfer fees to a winger who scored twice in 53 Premier League appearances.
Spurs will reportedly pay an initial £75 million, with another £10 million available through add-ons. At least £5 million of those bonuses are considered effectively guaranteed, ensuring City receive a minimum of £80 million.
The 22-year-old arrives after two seasons at the Etihad, during which he contributed 12 league assists alongside his two goals. His pace, creativity and ability to play on either wing made him a useful part of City’s squad, even as competition restricted his playing time.
Tottenham are therefore not paying £85 million for the two goals Savinho has already scored. They are paying for the considerable number they expect him to score later, at a price normally associated with goals that have already happened.
The Brazilian joined City from Troyes for a reported £30.8 million in 2024 following an impressive loan spell with Girona. Two years and two Premier League goals later, his potential transfer value has increased by approximately £54 million.
City’s development process involved giving Savinho regular first-team football, watching him produce occasional moments of considerable quality and then finding another Premier League club prepared to make him their latest major investment.
Tottenham head coach Roberto De Zerbi believes the winger will bring energy, imagination and creativity to his attack. Savinho also remains young enough to improve considerably, while his 12 assists demonstrate that his contribution cannot be judged by goals alone.
Those factors help explain the valuation, although £85 million remains a substantial amount to pay for the opportunity to discover what a player may eventually become.
Savinho leaves Manchester City as a talented 22-year-old with two Premier League goals. He joins Tottenham as an £85 million attacker expected to begin adding the remaining ones.
