Wayne Rooney and Mark Goldbridge will co-host a new Manchester United show after Gary Neville’s The Overlap agreed a major new partnership with Disney+.
The programme, titled Stick to United with Wayne Rooney, will run for 50 episodes during the 2026/27 season and focus exclusively on Manchester United.
Rooney will provide the perspective of the club’s record goalscorer, five-time Premier League winner and former captain.
Goldbridge will provide Mark Goldbridge.
The pairing represents another significant development in the increasingly small distance between football fan channels and the traditional football media they originally existed outside of.
Goldbridge built The United Stand into one of the largest football fan channels on YouTube, becoming known for watchalongs, transfer coverage and highly animated reactions to Manchester United matches.
Earlier this year, Gary Neville’s Overlap network acquired The United Stand and Goldbridge’s That’s Football channel.
It has now put him next to Wayne Rooney.
The announcement produced a mixed reaction among United supporters, particularly those attempting to imagine 50 episodes of Rooney and Goldbridge discussing the same football club from substantially different starting positions.
Some supporters welcomed Rooney’s continued move into punditry.
Others appeared more interested in the possibility of him eventually disagreeing with his co-host.
The show forms part of a wider Disney+ agreement with The Overlap which will also include Stick to Football, featuring Neville, Roy Keane, Jamie Carragher, Jill Scott and Ian Wright.
Football fan channels once offered supporters an alternative to former players discussing football on television.
One of the biggest will now feature Manchester United’s record goalscorer, be produced by Gary Neville’s media company and appear on Disney+.
The alternative has gone extremely well.
