Hajduk fans whistle their own ultras after fireworks halt Ajax clash
Smoke forced the players off with Hajduk leading Ajax, prompting whistles from other sections of the stadium.
Hajduk Split supporters whistled their own ultras after a pyrotechnic display forced their Conference League match against Ajax to stop while the home side led 2–1.
Flares and explosive fireworks set off by members of Torcida, Hajduk’s ultras group, filled Poljud with smoke late in the second half. With visibility badly affected, the referee sent both teams to the dressing rooms.
The interruption was met with whistles from other sections of the ground. Both Index and 24sata reported the disapproval, with the latter describing further whistles from the east and west stands when Torcida resumed singing.
The footage shows the pitch engulfed in pink smoke, with players and officials waiting around as the match is interrupted.
It came at an awkward moment for Hajduk, who were protecting a narrow lead in their opening league-phase fixture against the Dutch visitors.
Supporters were warned over the stadium’s public-address system that further use of pyrotechnics could prevent the match from continuing. Once the smoke cleared, the players returned and play resumed.
