Enzo Fernandez sent referee Sven Jablonski tumbling after pushing him from behind during Manchester City’s Champions League defeat to PSG.
The incident happened as City attacked in the second half at the Etihad Stadium on Wednesday, with the hosts trailing 4-1.
Fernandez approached a ball played back towards the edge of the penalty area, but Jablonski was standing in his path. The midfielder made contact with the official’s back, extending his arms as the referee fell forwards onto the turf.
Jablonski quickly got back to his feet and allowed the attack to continue. Fernandez was not shown a yellow or red card for the incident.
The sequence continued with Erling Haaland heading against the crossbar as City tried to reduce the deficit.
Reports differed over whether Fernandez could have avoided the collision, with some describing an accidental coming together and others questioning the pushing motion.
City had already endured a difficult first half, conceding to Desire Doue, Ousmane Dembele and Vitinha before the interval.
Haaland pulled one back after the break, only for Maghnes Akliouche to restore PSG’s three-goal cushion. The Norwegian later scored again, but the visitors held on for a 4-2 victory.
